How to Cope with Grief and Loss

how-to-cope-with-grief-and-loss

According to Matthew Ratcliffe, Ph.D., a University of York professor, grief is an emotional response to loss. Grief can be the result of a loss of a parent, friend, or pet. It can also be the loss of a job or a romantic relationship.

Because of the loss and grief, you might feel sad, angry, numb, guilty, or lost. It may seem that nothing looks quite the same anymore. But be assured that these feelings are normal. These will help you come to terms with your loss.

Here at The Abundant Life Institute, we understand that it can take time to adjust and cope. Be patient with yourself, and lean on people you trust for support and comfort.

With our counseling services in Winder, Georgia, we have come up with some tips to help you cope when someone you love has died.

  • Make Time for Introspection
Don’t stop yourself from having a good cry, and accept the feelings you have.
  • Talk to Someone About It
Our Christian counselors are here if you need someone to talk about your feelings.
  • Get the Support You Need
You can get support from family or friends. You may also want to get support through mental health counseling in Georgia.

Everyone reacts differently to loss and utilizes coping mechanisms for grief. If you need Christian counseling or individual counseling, we are here to help you. Feel free to contact us now.
