Do You And Your Partner Want To Truly Reconnect And Find Healing?

Does your marriage feel stuck in a cycle of negative communication patterns?

Are you struggling to recover from trauma or regain trust after infidelity?

Do you want to put your head down and do the healing work of saving your relationship?

Maybe you and your significant other just don’t feel like you’re on the same team anymore. You still love each other deeply, but you feel disconnected and exhausted from trying to fix things on your own. Perhaps there’s been infidelity or betrayal, and now you’re wondering if your marriage has what it takes to last. As a result, you may be thinking of seeking intensive couples therapy.

Maybe You’ve Tried Standard Couples Therapy, But You Need A Deeper Reset

Contact Us

Perhaps you and your significant other have already tried traditional weekly therapy, but it turned out to be too time-consuming and progress felt hard to maintain from one week to the next. What you really need is the time and space to do focused work without distractions—away from kids, work, and daily pressures. You want to truly reconnect and heal on an emotional and spiritual level, stopping cycles of conflict once and for all.

If this is the case, then you’ve come to the right place. At Abundant Life Institute, we offer intensive therapy options for couples who want to do their healing work in an accelerated format. This is a chance for you and your spouse to nip your relationship problems in the bud and get the answers you need—all within a safe, structured, and faith-integrated environment.

Intensive Therapy Gives Couples The Clarity And Momentum For Real Change

At The Abundant Life Institute, our approach to marriage intensives is rooted in grace and growth. We believe healing is possible when both partners are willing to show up, be honest, and allow God to do the deeper work. Couples often describe the experience as “transformative” and “life-giving”—not just for their marriage, but for their personal and spiritual lives as well.

A marriage intensive with us is a focused, accelerated counseling experience designed to help you and your spouse make meaningful progress in a short span of time. It’s a seven-hour package that can be completed in a single day or divided into multiple days. The experience combines assessments, communication exercises, guided processing, and healing work around unresolved trauma and emotional wounds.

Ultimately, the extended timeframe of an intensive session gives you and your partner more time to work through defensive behaviors and practice new ways of connecting. Intensives provide momentum, clarity, and skill-building that would typically take months to achieve in standard couples therapy

What To Expect During An Intensive Couples Retreat

We’ll begin with an in-depth assessment so that we can understand you and your partner’s goals and pain points. From there, we’ll draw from a mixture of:

  • Communication coaching
  • Emotional attunement exercises
  • Trauma-informed interventions
  • Strategies for conflict de-escalation
  • Faith-based principles

Sessions will include guided dialogues, structured breaks, and healing conversations facilitated by your therapist. You and your partner can expect to gain tools for rebuilding trust, re-establishing intimacy, and maintaining progress through ongoing check-ins.

Tailoring Our Approach To Intensive Marriage Counseling

Our therapists can draw from a wide range of evidence-based approaches to help you and your spouse restore your marriage, including:

  • Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you understand the underlying emotions that are fueling cycles of conflict
  • Gottman Method Interventions for identifying the biggest reasons couples drift apart (criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling, and contempt)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you repair traumas and heal longstanding emotional wounds
  • Experiential and Somatic Work for processing your emotional struggles on a deeper level

In the end, you and your partner can expect to walk away with improved communication skills, deeper emotional awareness, and a shared vision for your future together. You’ll learn how to express your needs without blame, listen with empathy, and reconnect emotionally and spiritually.

How Will I Know If A Couples Intensive Is Right For Me?

Intensive therapy may be right for you if you’re ready to make lasting changes in your marriage and want to dedicate focused time to healing. It’s ideal for couples who need immediate breakthroughs, travel often, or find weekly sessions too fragmented. It’s also a great fit for couples of faith who are seeking both clinical and spiritual guidance, as our practice integrates both into treatment.

That said, there are a few scenarios where marriage intensives are not ideal:

  • One partner is not willing to participate
  • There is ongoing abuse or addiction that is not addressed
  • You’re seeking quick fixes without a commitment to growth
  • You’re in the process of divorce and not open to reconciliation

Before you begin the intensive, we would be happy to talk through whether or not it’s the right fit for your marriage and address any concerns you have about the process.
